Tollett Resigns Houston Bureau Post
Tollett
Last week Gerard J. “Jordy” Tollett announced that he is resigning his post as president and CEO of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau to “pursue other ventures.” The GHCVB executive committee accepted his offer to serve as a consultant to the bureau to assist in transitioning the GHCVB to new leadership. He will receive his full $206,000 annual salary until 2008, according to a report in the Houston Chronicle.
Tollett, who assumed the bureau CEO role in 1997, previously served as director of the city’s Convention & Entertainment Facilities Department. He took a leave of absence in mid-2006, returned to work, and since his contract was to expire in February 2007, Mayor Bill White enlisted a national executive search firm to find qualified candidates for the position in mid-November. The GHCVB Board asked Tollett to submit an application and reapply for the CEO position.
