The two-year-old Stowe Mountain Lodge in Stowe, Vt., plans to open a major expansion in December that will more than double its guest capacity and add a multipurpose theater.

The project expands the guest room count at the southern Vermont property from 173 to 312, and adds the 420-seat Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center, which can be used for lectures, presentations, and multimedia events. For meetings, the new theater joins the Lodge’s 12,100-square-feet of meeting space and Stowe Mountain’s 30,000-square-foot base lodge, which is used as function space when ski season is over.

The Lodge also features a 21,000-square-foot spa and wellness center, ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes, heated pool, and an 18-hole mountain golf course designed by Bob Cupp.
