In Astoria, Ore., less than 100 miles from Portland, the Cannery Pier Hotel provides a spectacular setting for meetings and retreats.

The 46-room boutique hotel is built on the site of a former cannery, on a pier that extends 600 feet into the Columbia River. The hotel affords spectacular views of this busy working river, as well as the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse and glimpses of Washington State on the opposite shore. Capable of hosting groups from 14 to 400, The Cannery Pier Hotel offers a boardroom, the Union Fish Meeting Room (seating 70, theater-style), and The Loft at the Red Building for larger meetings. The Loft can seat up to 250 people banquet-style, and 400 theater-style.

All guest rooms at the hotel have private river-view decks, free Wi-Fi, and high-speed Internet access.

The on-site spa operates from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m daily, offering massages, facials, and body treatments.

In 2011, Astoria is celebrating its bicentennial with lectures, festivals, and events planned throughout the year.
