The 2000 Motivation Show, the combination of the 28thTravel & Meeting Executives show and the 67th National Premium/Incentive show, took place October 10 to 12 in Chicago.
ICPA Board Member Jaimee Niles, assistant vice president, meetings and professional relations, Pacific Life, arranged a reception for ICPA members and hospitality partners attending the IT&ME show. The first-time event was sponsored for ICPA by a member of the Union League Club, a private club that occupies a 23-story building in downtown Chicago.
Niles was pleased with the turnout for this first event - about 50 planners and suppliers - and says she will organize another reception next year during IT&ME, ashe believes insurance planners can get a lot out of. "For those of us selecting sites and doing international programs, there is no better place to learn about new venues and destinations and have face-to-face meetings with suppliers around the globe," she says. "And it's great too to have the chance to meet not only with suppliers on a social basis but also our colleagues, as with our reception."
The Union League Club, founded in the 1870s, performs numerous civic duties through its civic and arts foundation. Its motto: "Commitment to community and country."
It's also an elegant venue for receptions or dinners, provided someone in your organization is a Union League Club member or a member of one of its 180 reciprocal clubs worldwide. Meeting spaces include historic, art-filled rooms that can accommodate up to 400 people for dinner. Out-of-town attendees also can be housed in the Union League Club's 187 guest rooms.
