* MDRT sets 1998 requirements. Membership in the 1998 Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) will be based on a minimum of $53,000 in first-year commissions paid or credited to the writing agent's account and a minimum of 25 lives/cases sold. Also, an applicant must be a member of an MDRT-accredited life underwriters association. Court of the Table requirements: proof of production equal to or greater than $159,000; for Top of the Table, the target is $318,000.
* LIMRA announces new designation. The Life Insurance Marketing Research Association (LIMRA) recently announced the Chartered Leadership Fellow (CLF) designation, created for managers in the financial services industry who are responsible for leading groups of producers, regardless of whether these producers are called agents, sales reps, account reps, or some other title. According to LIMRA, the designation was developed to acknowledge that sales managers today are coping with changes in technology, customer expectations and demographics, competition, and increasingly complicated products and regulations.
