EVENTSOURCE CREATES TRACKING TOOL; JOINS WITH EXTENSITY Shortly after launching Compass, its new meeting management and expense-tracking tool, EventSource announced that the 170 corporate customers of Extensity Inc. (www.extensity.com) have access to that tool through a direct link to EventSource (www.eventsource.com). The link adds a meeting management component to Extensity's own online expense tracking and management tool, called ExtensityConnect.

Compass provides companies with a customized version of the EventSource meeting planning Web site. This customized product can be used only by their employees and is accessible via the Internet or the corporate intranet. Designed for companies that plan a large number of meetings annually, says Ed Sarraille, president and CEO of Sausalito, Calif.-based EventSource, Compass allows these companies to collect historical data on meeting volume with particular hotel chains, track their negotiated savings, and set up room-night cost comparisons.

The Compass interface also allows companies to highlight preferred vendors, so planners of meetings throughout the organization will take advantage of preferred rates and comply with other corporate travel policies.

EventSource signed its first three Compass customers in December. As of January 1, new customers will pay fees for installation, training, and maintenance when they sign on with Compass. Other revenues will come from transaction fees paid by hotels at which Compass customers book meetings. Those fees "will be consistent and tied to room nights," Sarraille says. This is a shift from the 10-percent commission model on which EventSource built its public meeting-planning site.

A group of ICPA members joined Julie Stovroff, Hinton & Grusich (not pictured), for a few days at The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera in Edwards, Colo., following the ICPA Annual Meeting last November. The secluded, 56-room chateau overlooks the Vail Valley and is two hours west of Denver. Three world-class golf courses, four restaurants, a full-service spa, and 3,400 square feet of meeting space are available at the mountaintop property.
