Going Green
I'll never forget snorkeling among the Hawaiian green sea turtles right off the beach at the Fairmont Orchid. The turtles — called honu in Hawaiian — also crawl ashore to a protected area at the resort for serious afternoon sunning. Their home here is emblematic of the attitude at the Orchid, where the housekeeping staff has switched to non-chemical cleaning products created from thyme, clove, and lemongrass oils; and the landscaping team has phased out synthetic fertilizers and pesticides in favor of natural organic methods. The ongoing environmental efforts are part of the companywide Fairmont Green Partnership program.
