David Berwick, CMP, has been appointed director of the newly established destination services department at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. The department was formed to provide an on-site staff to help meeting planners design and implement meetings. Berwick was named Meeting Professional of the Year by the New England chapter of Meeting Professionals International in 1996.
At the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau in Fayetteville, N.C., Terica Taylor has been promoted to senior sales manager, and Kelly C. Ralph has been hired as sales manager. Ralph was most recently meeting coordinator for Professional & Scientific Associates.
At Pine Mountain, Ga.'s, Callaway Gardens Resort, Joe Henry has been named director of operations. Henry had spent nearly 25 years at Nashville's Opryland Hotel, most recently as manager.
Mark W. Thomas has recently been appointed national sales manager at the Greensboro (N.C.) Convention and Visitors Bureau. He will be responsible for sales in Chicago, New York, and other major cities.
Linda Kamp has been promoted to senior national sales manager, and Julie Ryczak has been named national sales manager at the 1,334-room Rosen Centre hotel, adjacent to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Kamp will be responsible for sales in the Washington, D.C., area, while Ryczak will handle sales in the southeast U.S.
Bill Pennington has been appointed regional sales manager at the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort in St. Augustine, Fla. Pennington will be responsible for group business in the mid-Atlantic region for the 300-room resort. He had been sales manager for Adam's Mark Hotel in Jacksonville, Fla.
Darlene Smith has been named conference services manager at the Resort at Longboat Key Club, just off the coast of Sarasota, Fla. Before joining the Longboat Key Club staff, Smith was a meeting planner for Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta for two years.
Benchmark Hospitality has appointed Ross Powell director of sales and marketing for The Northland Inn, a 231-suite property in Minneapolis. Powell was previously with Harrison Conference Centers as director of sales and marketing.
Geoffrey Cooke has been named national sales manager at Pointe South Mountain Resort in Phoenix. He had been director of national accounts for more than 10 years at International Conference Resorts in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Vineyard Creek Hotel & Spa, a 155-room boutique hotel in Santa Rosa, Calif., has appointed Susan Dunn senior sales manager. Before coming to Vineyard Creek, Dunn was senior sales manager at several San Francisco properties, including the Sir Francis Drake Hotel.

Destination management company USA Hosts, based in Las Vegas, has promoted National Director of Sales Karen Christensen to vice president — sales. Christensen, a native of New Orleans, joined USA Hosts in 1991 as a sales manager.
