IN RECOGNITION THAT golf events aren't planned just by tournament directors, the recently formed Golf Event Managers Association has announced that it will extend its educational services, tournament management instruction, and golf industry supplier opportunities to meeting planners and others who are not golf pros who find themselves putting together a golf event.

The new association, started by Whitney McClelland, founder of GolfGuide, Inc., and Barry Palm, the former executive director of the event sponsors association for the PGA Tour, will address the administrative and logistical issues facing event managers who use golf events for business or fundraising through regional symposia and a national conference next October in Las Vegas.
