* Originally opened in 1962, the Ocean Club Resort & Golf Course on Paradise Island in the Bahamas has hosted many an illustrious guest. Purchased by Sun International from Resorts International and Merv Griffin in 1994, the historic resort is now undergoing a $100 million renovation and expansion.

This fall, the hotel will add 50 rooms and suites (for a total of 108), a gourmet restaurant and, by December, a first-class spa. Also set to open in December is a stunning 18-hole Tom Weiskopf-designed championship golf course, to be managed by the renowned Troon Golf. On the eastern end of the island, Weiskopf's scenic par-72 course takes advantage of the Bahamian landscape and island crosswinds, challenging golfers' precision and accuracy.

The Ocean Club Resort features lushly manicured gardens modeled after those at Versailles, complete with marble sculptures and a 12th-century Augustinian cloister. An exclusive, intimate retreat of hotel suites and surrounding private residences, the resort is adjacent to Sun International's other Paradise Island complex--the towering 2,400-room Atlantis Resort, which features a casino, waterpark, aquarium, and other attractions. Atlantis guests also have complete access to the new golf course.
