The News: A $14 million project created a new restaurant and renovated the Spa Grand Traverse; a new Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel is under construction.
Specs: 600 guest rooms and 85,000 square feet of meeting space. The new hotel will add 137 guest rooms and a 3,300-square-foot ballroom. There are two casinos.
Time Frame: New Turtle Creek opens June 2008.
Extra: The existing Turtle Creek Casino is open during construction. There is complementary transportation to the nearby casinos.
Harrah's Resort Atlantic City Hotel & Casino
Atlantic City, N.J.
The News: Group facilities have been remodeled.
Specs: 25,000 square feet of flexible meeting and convention space, eight breakout rooms, 1,174 guest rooms
MGM Grand Atlantic City
Atlantic City, N.J.
The News: MGM Mirage is building a $4.5 billion to $5 billion mega-casino next to its Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
Specs: Three hotel towers with more than 3,000 rooms, spa, convention center, retail space, and the largest casino floor in the state
Time Frame: Groundbreaking 2008; scheduled opening 2012
Caesars Palace
Las Vegas
The News: $1 billion expansion to include a new hotel tower and increased meeting space; Forum Tower guest rooms to be remodeled.
Specs: A 263,000-square-foot convention center, including two ballrooms and two boardrooms, will replace the Events Center and bring total meeting space to 300,000 square feet. The new Octavius Tower will have 665 guest rooms, increasing the total to 4,013.
Time Frame: New tower and convention center completion slated for early 2009; $83 million Forum Tower remodel scheduled for completion first quarter 2008.
Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino
Mescalero, N.M.
The News: New air charter service from Atlantic Aviation, next to Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport, to Alamogordo Airport, a short ride from the resort. The service runs Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Specs: 273 guest accommodations, 40,000 square feet of meeting space, 38,000-square-foot casino
Pechanga Resort & Casino
Temecula, Calif.
The News: Pechanga has California's largest casino, with 188,000 square feet of gaming space.
Specs: 522 guest rooms, 22,000-square-foot ballroom; teleconference center seats 118; Pechanga Showroom seats 1,200.
Casino Windsor
Windsor, Ontario
The News: A $373 million expansion includes the addition of 100,000 square feet of convention space and a name change to Caesars Windsor.
Specs: 758 guest rooms; current ballroom seats 600 banquet-style; boardroom seats 20.
Time Frame: Slated for a spring 2008 completion
Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa, A Wyndham Grand Resort
Rio Grande, Puerto Rico
The News: A multimillion-dollar capital improvement project is under way.
Specs: The 7,000-square-foot Rio Mar Casino has already seen $5 million in renovations, including new slot machines, carpeting, chairs, and a redecorated Players Lounge. The 48,000-square-foot Oceanfront Conference Center will receive new wall coverings, curtain walls, millwork, and banquet chairs and tables. Additionally, all 600 guest rooms and suites have been outfitted with Wyndham's Be Well bedding package including new linens, pillows, duvets, blankets.
Time Frame: The casino reopened in November.
The Water Club by Borgata
Atlantic City, N.J.
The News: A fire in September damaged the $400 million development.
Specs: 800 guest accommodations, spa, 18,000 square feet of meeting space, five pools
Time Frame: The fire, Boyd Gaming Corp. says, will only delay by a few weeks the opening, still scheduled for late spring 2008.
Extra: The club will have direct access to the Borgata.
