Las Vegas: The Next Phase
The choice of “evolve” as the thematic concept for the 2006 Financial & Insurance Conference Planners Annual Conference was perfect for an event taking place in Las Vegas, according to Connie Jalet, sales executive at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
“Evolution is what we've been about for decades,” says Jalet. “And there's another evolution coming between 2008 and 2011.” Las Vegas is building like crazy, with up to 40,000 new hotel rooms expected to open during the next few years. “The Stardust closed, and on those grounds will rise Echelon Place, a core hotel with three or four smaller properties including a Delano and a Mondrian,” Jalet notes. Also planned: a Fontainebleau, Grand Hyatt, W, and huge expansions of The Venetian and Wynn Las Vegas. And that's just the beginning of the next phase of a top meetings destination.
