ADME Goes International
The Association of Destination Management Executives has broadened its focus. The membership recently approved a change to the bylaws that adds “International” to the name and creates a more global mission.
“As our membership has grown to represent destination management companies in Europe, the U.K., Russia, South Africa, China, and beyond, changing our name to ADME International more accurately reflects our expanded focus,” said Susan Gray, DMCP, MAC Meetings & Events, and ADME International president.
The ADME board of directors and an international task force discussed the change for many months after leadership had seen a surge of interest in ADME’s standards and best practices for destination management companies, including its Destination Management Certified Professional designation.
Grant Snider, DMCP, JPdl Destination Management Inc., and president-elect and chair of the International Task Force, added, “We recognize that the standard documents ADME has developed, including client agreement, vendor agreement, and other documents for each part of the client–DMC relationship, will need to be customized for each geopolitical entity. We look forward to working with our members to ensure that our documents uphold similar standards worldwide while reflecting local legal adjustments.”
ADME International’s online directory, “Find a DMC,” already reflects its broader geographical representation and is organized by continent, country, and state or province. Earlier this year, ADME International changed from an individual membership society to a trade association, with destination management companies now making up its membership, rather than individuals.
