Paulson to Replace Schwarzenegger at GBTA Convention
Just two months after the Global Business Travel Association’s March announcement that Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger would be a featured keynoter at the 2011 GBTA Convention August 21–24, there was a change in the lineup.
According to GBTA officials, “Former Gov. Schwarzenegger was not able to attend the GBTA Convention due to a personal obligation.” Schwarzenegger has been at the center of scandal since May when news broke that he fathered a child outside of his marriage. In mid-June, GBTA named Henry M. Paulson Jr. as the new keynoter for the conference.
Paulson, who will share his insight into the economy and the financial system with the GBTA audience, served as U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under President George W. Bush from June 2006 until January 2009 and, before that, headed up Goldman Sachs as chairman and chief executive officer. Paulson published a memoir in 2010, On the Brink: Inside the Race to Stop the Collapse of the Global Financial System, looking at the events that led to the financial crisis of 2008.
In addition to Paulson, GBTA’s keynote speakers at the August convention will be former eBay president and CEO, Meg Whitman, and actor and humanitarian Sean Penn.
