Reno-Tahoe adds Airport Fast Lanes

Registered Traveler--a program designed to speed enrolled travelers through specially designated airport security lanes--is up and running at Reno-Tahoe International Airport in Nevada.

Unisys Corp. of Blue Bell, Pa., last week opened RT lanes at Reno-Tahoe, becoming the first RT provider other than Verified Identity Pass Inc. to begin an airport program.

Reno-Tahoe becomes the sixth airport to implement RT lanes. New York–based Verified, through its RT program Clear, operates lanes in San Jose, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Orlando, and New York-JFK.

Other airports are ready to get RT programs online, as well. Clear is planning to open lanes at Newark International Airport's Terminal B, Little Rock, and Albany, while another competitor, FLO Alliance, a partnership of companies that includes Saflink Corp., Kirkland, Wash., has an agreement to launch lanes at Huntsville, Ala., International Airport.

Unisys’ entry into the RT market also means the program is now interoperable. Clear cardholders can use RT lanes at Reno-Tahoe, operated by Unisys, while Unisys cardholders are able to use any of the Clear RT lanes.
