Tackling “The Great Recession” at Site International’s Annual Conference

The world’s incentive travel experts will be celebrating Halloween together at the Site (Society of Incentive and Travel Executives) International Conference 2009, October 30-November 2 in Aruba. The program’s education theme is “Business Without Boundaries.” Site’s members—tourism, incentive, and meeting pros representing destinations from all over the world—are “determined to place motivational events and experiences in their rightful spot: as powerful tools that provide a significant, measurable return on investment,” according to Site.

The program will feature a number of global business tourism experts and university professors, including Geoffrey H. Lipman, assistant secretary general and spokesperson of UNWTO, the World Tourism Organization. Also featured is a session called the “Impact of the Great Recession on the Meetings and Incentive Industry Ecosystem and Future Outcomes,” presented by Tim Brooks, founder/developer, Meeting Trader LLC.

The Aruba Tourism Authority, Aruba Convention Bureau for North America, the Westin Resort Aruba, and the Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa, all platinum sponsors, bid on the conference recognizing the value of the incentive market to the destination, says Francis W. Purvey, director of sales and marketing for the Radisson. “The island will be a draw for the Site Conference for participants from North America, Europe, and Latin America. We support industry efforts to regain the credibility of incentives and meetings as motivational tools for companies worldwide. If ever there is a time for rejuvenation and enthusiasm for sales, it is now.”
