The latest on new properties, courses, and spas, as well as renovations

Doral Golf Resort and Spa

Location: Miami

The News: The property completed a $16 million renovation in December.

Specs: The 693-room hotel added the par-70 Jim McLean Signature Course,renovated the Spa at Doral, added a lobby bar and Latin-inspired restaurant, and enhanced its other two golf courses. The resort has 110,000 square feet of meeting space.

Island Resort and Casino

The Sweetgrass Golf Course at the Island Resort and Casino

Location: Harris, Mich.

The News: The property’s convention center begins a $2 million expansion project in July that is expected to be complete by April 2011. In addition, the Sweetgrass Golf Club, which opened in 2008, recently was named “Best Casino Course in America” by Golfweek magazine.

Specs: The convention center will expand from 9,500 square feet to 17,400 square feet. The 162-room resort has an 18-hole championship golf course.

Tulalip Resort Casino

Location: Tulalip, Wash.

The News: The hotel received a AAA Four Diamond award in August.

Specs: 370 guest rooms; 30,000 square feet of meeting space (including a 15,000-square-foot ballroom); the 14,000-square-foot T Spa, featuring group treatment rooms; a 3,000-seat amphitheater; 192,000 square feet of gaming; a pool; and six dining facilities

Honua Kai Resort and Spa

Kaanapali North Beach, Maui

The News: The property’s new Konea Tower opened in December, bringing the total guest rooms to 628.

Specs: The resort offers three pools, two restaurants (with a third opening later this year), a 7,000-square-foot spa (opening later this year), a children’s club, and 3,000 square feet of meeting space for groups with as many as 70 guests.

South Seas Island Resort

Location: Captiva Island, Fla.

The News: In February the resort opened a new 4,000-square-foot spa, The Kay Casperson Lifestyle Spa and Boutique.

Specs: The resort features more than 24,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, 104,000 square feet of outdoor space, 470 guest accommodations (from hotel rooms to private homes), a 9-hole golf course, golf clubhouse, 18 pools, a kids’ club, and six dining facilities.

Salish Lodge and Spa

Location: Snoqualmie, Wash.

The News: The hotel completed a multimillion-dollar renovation in January to its 89 guest rooms.

Specs: Three dining options, 6,600 square feet of meeting space in five meeting rooms for groups of up to 180, and The Spa at Salish Lodge

Extra: The resort is located 30 minutes east of Seattle.

The Allison Inn and Spa

Location: Newburg, Ore.

The News: The new hotel opened last September.

Specs: The 85-room hotel features 15,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 4,500-square-foot ballroom, a signature restaurant, a spa with 12 treatment rooms, and a fitness studio.

Extra: The Allison is on track to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification.

The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain

Location: Marana, Ariz.

The News: The new resort opened in December.

Specs: The property features 250 guest rooms, a 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, four restaurants, a spa, fitness center, three ballrooms, and five meeting rooms.

Makena Beach and Golf Resort

Location: Makena, Maui

The News: The resort unveiled its newest event venue, the Makena Vista, in January. The venue is a shuttle ride from the resort and can accommodate up to 150 guests.

Specs: The 310-room resort offers an 18-hole championship golf course, more than 12,500 square feet of indoor meeting space for up to 500 guests, outdoor space for up to 600 guests, five dining facilities, two pools, a fitness center, and a tennis club.
