AFTER A $65 MILLION renovation, the 480-room Hyatt Grand Champions Resort & Spa, in Indian Wells, Calif., has remodeled guest rooms and meeting rooms (including a 20,000-square-foot ballroom). Guests can swim in seven free-form swimming pools, and 16 poolside cabanas are each equipped with Internet access. The 30,000-square-foot Agua Serena Spa has 18 treatment rooms, plunge pools, and a full-service salon. The fitness center offers yoga, pilates, and aerobics classes. The resort is surrounded by two 18-hole champion-ship courses.

At the Abbey Resort in Lake Geneva, Wis., a $40 million redevelopment was completed in May. The Abbey has totally refurbished its 35,000-square-foot Fontana Spa. The atrium pool offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The resort has 40,000 square feet of upgraded meeting and event space, including 32 meeting rooms, the 10,150-square-foot Harbor Ballroom, and the new 6,000-square-foot West Shore Pavilion.

In California's Napa Valley, Villagio Inn & Spa will open six new spa suites next year. Each will have its own private garden. Villagio Inn has 112 rooms (with 26 suites).

The Spa at Le Parker Méridien Palm Springs, in Palm Springs, Calif., is closed for a complete renovation this summer. The property was formerly the Givenchy Spa and Resort. The resort has 10,500 square feet of indoor meeting space and more than 30,000 square feet of outdoor space. A multimillion-dollar improvement project was completed last fall.

Sasura — a Spa Experience by Golden Door opened at the Wyndham Buttes Resort in Escondido, Calif., in July. This debut of Wyndham's new spa concept features five treatment rooms, manicure and pedicure stations, locker rooms with spa and sauna, and access to the newly renovated fitness center.

In the heart of red rock country, Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa opened in June in Sedona, Ariz. The hotel has 77 guest accommodations, including four suites and seven spa rooms. Its 2,700 square feet of meeting and event space includes a 2,000-square-foot conference room and raised observation deck (with red-rock views) that can accommodate receptions for up to 50 people. The Spa at Sedona Rouge, with eight treatment rooms, is set apart from the main hotel.

In Sedona, Ariz., a 7,000-square-foot Breathe Spa opened earlier this year at Hyatt Piñon Pointe resort. It has 10 treatment rooms and is the second Breathe Spa to open; the first is at Daufuskie Island Resort & Breathe Spa on Daufuskie Island, S.C.

Scheduled for completion in December, the 26,000-square-foot spa at Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa in Phoenix will be managed by Red Door Spas. It will be the third Red Door Spa in Arizona and the fifth at a U.S. resort property. The two-story spa will encompass indoor and outdoor areas. Ten of the 16 treatment rooms will feature patios, and three will offer outdoor treatment areas.

The Pan Pacific Vancouver in Vancouver, British Columbia, with 504 rooms and suites, opened a $4 million, 11,400-square-foot Spa Utopia and Salon in March.

Pan Pacific Glenmarie Kuala Lumpur recently opened Andana Spa, a 20,000-square-foot facility. The hotel is part of the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, and it overlooks two 18-hole golf courses. The hotel's function rooms can accommodate up to 500 guests.

Last year in Malaysia, the 422-room Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur opened in the Kuala Lumpur Sentral precinct, offering direct access to Sentral Station's new express rail service. The hotel has conference and banquet facilities. Its Clark Hatch Gold Health Club and Spa has six treatment rooms on two levels. The free-form swimming pool is surrounded by a roof-deck garden.

The Crowne Plaza Karon Beach opened in August in Phuket, Thailand, with 164 villas, 168 guest rooms and suites, and the Tea Tree Spa.

JAL Hotels Co. Ltd. opened the 158-room Palau Royal Resort this summer in the North Pacific Republic of Palau. The six-story hotel with ocean-facing balconies has a full-service spa — the first spa in Palau, which comprises more than 300 islands and is 470 miles east of the Philippines in the Pacific.

Woof! The Doggie Spa at Wyndham Peaks in Telluride, Colo., continues to cater to guests' canine companions. If your pooch needs a little pampering, this is the place to go for a “paw-dicure.” Meanwhile, the 42,000-square-foot Golden Door Spa at Wyndham Peaks Resort will be getting a little pick-me-up of its own in a $1.3 million project. Whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms, and treatment rooms will all be upgraded by November, and more couples treatment rooms will be added.
