Golf and Spa Update

In Vernon, N.J., Crystal Springs Resort features six golf courses within a five-mile radius, four driving ranges, and the David Glenz Golf Academy. The course designers include George Fazio and Robert Trent Jones. The resort's 53,000-square-foot Country Club has more than 14,000 square feet of meeting space. Opening later this year adjacent to the clubhouse is Grand Cascades Lodge, a 212-suite condominium hotel with a 6,000-square-foot, full-service spa. Stowe, Vt., is hard at work transforming itself into a four-season destination. When completed in late 2008, the resort will feature an enhanced 15,000-square-foot spa, two championship golf courses, and a new 7,500-square-foot ballroom. Seventy-two guest rooms will be added, bringing the total to 239, including 28 suites. Golfers will enjoy a state-of-the-art clubhouse and renovated locker rooms.

The second phase of The Westin Bear Mountain Victoria Resort & Spa opened adjacent to Victoria, British Columbia's, new Bear Mountain Golf and Country Club, which boasts the first Jack Nicklaus-designed course on Vancouver Island. Phase II includes a 6,000-square-foot conference facility, spa and wellness center, and 91 guest rooms, bringing the total to 156. A second Nicklaus-designed course, along with a Nicklaus Academy, will open next year.

The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage will open this coming winter on a 650-foot bluff overlooking Palm Springs, Calif. It will have 244 rooms and suites, a 25,000-square-foot spa, and 20,000 square feet of meeting space.
