Who doesn't like to take a gamble now and then? Torrance, Calif. — based American Honda Corp.'s Spin Play promotion rewards salespeople who sell certain models with a chance to log onto a special Web site, where they play blackjack, roulette, and other video games of chance to win a bonus ranging from $100 to $500. They can access their winnings from reloadable Bank of America debit cards. The company also uses the games as an incentive for training; employees must pass various product information tests before they are able to participate. At Bernardi Honda in Natick, Mass., the program has been in place since January 2003. “It mobilized the sales force and got them selling Civics and Accords,” says sales manager Gregg Vitello. “We've had more success with Civics in 2004 than ever before.”
