The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians credits its whole CME team for its successful COPD CME initiative.
I read the story on our COPD program with immense pride (“Meinzer's Mission,” June 2008). The story not only captured the philosophy of the New Jersey Family of Academy Physicians' CME/CPD team with regard to targeted education, but also appropriately highlighted NJAFP Director of National CME Bob Meinzer's exceptional insights into the potential for providers of high-quality, innovative CME to support the healthcare goals of the government and demonstrate the real value that these programs bring to providers and patients.
That said, the story left out a critical element of any successful educational program; I mean the superb team of adult education professionals who have guided the development of program tactics and continue to keep the COPD initiative moving forward. If Bob is the navigator plotting the program's course, NJAFP Deputy Executive Vice-President/Director of Education Theresa Barrett and Program Manager Kelly Hitchcock are pilot and co-pilot, ensuring that we not only fly, but fly on course and ultimately land safely. Without their dedication and professionalism — and their unparalleled expertise — our best ideas would remain just that, ideas.
I hope that you will recognize the team that puts innovation into practice every day.
