Kevin Wohlfort has joined the American College of Cardiology in Bethesda, Md., as director of corporate relations. Most recently, he served as director of industry relations and exhibits at the American Urological Association in Baltimore.
HEALTH CARE Wanda Johnson, CMP, has been promoted to director, CME Services, with The Endocrine Society in Bethesda, Md. She had been associate director, meetings and CME services.
Mark H. Schaffer has rejoined Professional Postgraduate Services in Secaucus, N.J., as vice president, CME. He had served as director of CME with PPS before assuming his most recent position as executive director, CME, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark.
CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAUS The Evanston (Ill.) Convention and Visitors Bureau has named Carolyn Topcik as sales manager. Before joining the bureau, Topcik served as sales manager with the Four Points Sheraton Chicago O'Hare and the Hyatt at University Village in Chicago.
The Scottsdale (Ariz.) Convention & Visitors Bureau has hired Renee Angeles, CMP, as convention sales manager. She will take over sales for the Midwest U.S. and Canada. Angeles was most recently national sales manager for the SunBurst Resort in Scottsdale.
HOTELS AND RESORTS At Hilton Hotels Corporation, Angelo Giammanco has been named assistant managing director of the New York office. He will continue in his role as Hilton's pharmaceutical market specialist. In 1998, he joined the New York office of Hilton Sales Worldwide as director of sales-worldwide accounts, specializing in the pharmaceutical market.
The Adam's Mark Jacksonville in Florida, slated to open in February, has announced several appointments. Joanne Devine has joined as sales manager, responsible for clients in the Northeast. Most recently, she served as director of sales for the Sofitel Philadelphia. Denise Marchesani has also signed on as sales manager; she will handle corporate and association clients nationwide. She joins from the Sawgrass Marriott Resort in Ponte Vedra, Fla., where she was executive meeting manager.
Matt Alagna is the new director of resort sales andfor the Hershey Lodge and Hotel Hershey in Hershey, Pa. Alagna was formerly the director of sales and marketing at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lodge, Wis.
Farazana Bhatti-Chambers and Christine Pennel-Jones have both been named directors of national accounts for the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel, which will open in February. Bhatti-Chambers previously worked as director of group sales for the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn near Baltimore; she will be responsible for the Northeast and Southeast corporate markets. Pennel-Jones was senior sales manager for the Marriott O'Hare in Chicago; she will work with associations in the Midwest, Northeast, and on the West Coast.
Amy Gilliam Copeland has been named director of sales and marketing of Loews L'Enfant Plaza hotel in Washington, D.C. She was formerly director of sales and marketing at the Radisson Plaza Hotel at Mark Center, Alexandria, Va.
The Opryland Hospitality Group appointed Karla Kelly to director of national accounts; she will work from the Washington, D.C., sales office. Kelly was previously vice president of conventions and exhibitions for the National Association of Truck Stop Operators.
Matt Brody has been promoted to sales director for Disney's BoardWalk Inn & Villas, adjacent to Epcot and the Disney-MGM Studios in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Brody will also oversee the sales team responsible for executive meetings at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Marriott's Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, which is scheduled to open in November 2002 in Phoenix, has announced the pre-opening sales team. Doug Gennardo will move from his former position as market director of field sales for the western region to director of sales and marketing. Carmen Rubino, the new director of group sales-association team, was formerly director of association sales for the Anaheim Marriott. Dan Carraher, the new director of group sales-corporate team, comes from the position of associate director of sales at the Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert, Calif.
MEETING SERVICES Steve Kinsley recently joined the meeting management firm run by his wife, Allison Kinsley, as partner. He had been associate director of sales for Keystone Resort. Kinsley & Associates is based in Denver, Colo.
FSI, a Rockville, Md.-basedmanagement company that helps associations boost their show revenue, has appointed Lawson Hockman, CEM, as marketing strategist. Hockman joins from the Anxiety Disorders Association, also in Rockville, where he was COO.
