At a time when many organizations are scaling back on meetings, a U.S. based event organizer has launched two successful new international medical meetings.
Canon Communications, which runs MEDTEC brand shows around the world for medical device manufacturers, presented new MEDTEC shows in Japan and France in April.
MEDTEC Japan, held April 7-9 in Yokohama, attracted 4,300 attendees and 106 exhibitors. Two weeks later, MEDTEC France, held April 22-23 in Besançon, had 3,000 attendees and 227 exhibitors.
The performance underscores the continuing strength in the global medical technology sector, even in an uncertain economy, said Charles McCurdy, chairman and chief executive officer at Los Angeles–based Canon Communications, in a press release.
Canon produces 12 shows around the world for medical device manufacturers, including MEDTEC-branded shows in France, Japan, Germany, the U.K., Ireland, and China. Based on the success of the debut shows in France and Japan, events in both of those countries have already been set for April 2010.
