Gaming and convention center news for meeting plannersCaesars Palace
Las Vegas
The News: The property unveiled a 110,000-square-foot expansion of its meeting facilities in July.
Specs: The 3,348-room hotel now offers more than 300,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The addition comprises a 263,000-square-foot convention center that connects to existing meeting space in the Palace Tower. The two-level facility includes two 52,000-square-foot ballrooms as well as added banquet kitchens and support facilities. A large terrace with swimming pools, which can be used for private events, is set to open in early September.
M Resort Spa & Casino
Las Vegas
The News: The new $1 billion resort opened its doors in March.
Specs: The property offers 390 guest rooms, nine restaurants, five bars, a 92,000-square-foot casino, a 100,000-square-foot pool and entertainment piazza, 60,000 square feet of conference space, a 17,400-square-foot ballroom, the 23,000-square-foot Spa Mio with 16 treatment rooms, and a fitness center.
The Greenbrier
White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
The News: The property plans to unveil a new casino in April 2010, while a temporary casino opens this September.
Specs: The 635-room resort features three championship golf courses, a 40,000-square-foot spa, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a conference center, and more than 40 meeting rooms.
Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas
Las Vegas
The News: The new hotel, operated by Associated Luxury Hotels International, will open this fall.
Specs: The 47-story nongaming hotel, located at the entrance of CityCenter on The Strip, will feature 392 guest rooms, 227 residences, and a total of 12,360 square feet of meeting space, including a 7,650-square-foot ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows.
MGM Grand at Foxwoods
Mashantucket, Conn.
The News: The $700 million resort and casino opened in May 2008 at Foxwoods.
Specs: 825 rooms, 1,400 slot machines, 4,000-seat MGM Grand Theater, a spa, five restaurants, retail stores, a total of 115,000 square feet of meeting space, a 50,000-square-foot ballroom, and two outdoor garden and terrace areas
Extra: Guests have access to all Foxwoods' amenities, including two 18-hole golf courses.
