Expanding•The 891-room Peabody Orlando will add 1,000 rooms in a 42-story tower and 125,000 square feet of meeting space by fall 2003, and then will add 700 rooms and 50,000 square feet of meeting space by 2006.

New•Downtown will see the March opening of the Westin Bohemian, a 250-room property themed after a 1920s Austrian hotel. There are 9,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 2,800-square-foot ballroom and six additional meeting rooms.

New•The 1,293-room Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge has opened overlooking a 30-acre savanna. The first phase of Disney's Pop Century Resort will debut in December with 2,880 value-priced rooms.

Renovating•The 1,014-room Wyndham Palace Resort & Spa is spending $30 million on a two-year, propertywide renovation project.

Expanded•The 1,012-room Sheraton World Resort has debuted a new tower with 305 rooms and suites and 9,000 square feet of meeting space, bringing the total meeting space to 55,000 square feet.

Expanded•The 469-room Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport Hotel, located in the terminal, has added a 10,700-square-foot ballroom.

New•The 650-room Loews Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando has opened adjacent to the Portofino Bay Hotel and to Universal Studios parks, while the 1,000-room Royal Pacific Resort, with a 28,000-square-foot ballroom, opens at Universal in 2002. The public areas of the hotel are decorated with pieces from the Hard Rock's collection of rock ’n’ roll memorabilia, and the guest rooms are themed as well. The hotel is adjacent to the Portofino Bay Hotel and to Universal Studios parks.

Renovated•The 1,064-room Orlando Marriott on International Drive became the Wyndham Orlando Resort after a $40 million renovation program.

Expanding•The 1,503-room Orlando World Center Marriott is adding a 500-room tower with 14,000 square feet of meeting space.

New•The 732-room Omni Resort at ChampionsGate, a 1,200-acre, mixed-use development with two Greg Norman — designed golf courses, opens in late 2002 with 70,000 square feet of meeting space.

New•The 800-room Clarion Plaza Hotel, on the north side of the Orange County Convention Center, and the 1,334-room Omni Rosen Hotel, on the south side of the Center, have become The Rosen Plaza and The Rosen Centre, respectively.

New•The $21 million, 167-room Embassy Suites in downtown Orlando, with 6,000 square feet of meeting space, opened in November.

Expanded•The 251-room Four Points Hotel in downtown Orlando, formerly the Harley Hotel, has undergone a propertywide $9 million renovation that included expansion of meeting space to 15,000 square feet and the addition of a business-class floor and club floor.

New•Opened in November, the Marriott Village at Little Lake Bryan has three hotels with 1,100 rooms (Courtyard by Marriott, SpringHill Suites, and Fairfield Inn), 5,000 square feet of meeting space in five meeting rooms, and a business center.

Renovated•The 218-room Langford Resort Hotel in Winter Park is temporarily closed and undergoing a major renovation, with reopening set for late this year.


New•The 1,400-room Opryland Hotel Florida, to open in 2002, will offer 430,000 square feet of meeting space.

Renovated•After a $17 million renovation, Marriott has converted the Doubletree Orlando Hotel to the Renaissance World Gate Hotel.

New•At World Expo Park, to be located on an 822-acre site on the Osceola Parkway and State Road 535 in Kissimmee, the World Expo Center will have more than 2 million square feet of contiguous exhibition space upon full build-out in 2008. Plans call for 2,500 hotel rooms by 2003 and a total of 9,000 by 2008.


New•The 300-unit luxury Ocean Walk Resort, with 5,000 square feet of meeting space, is set to open in spring at Ocean Walk Village.

Expanding•The 437-room Adam's Mark Resort is adding a 306-room tower and 18,000-square-foot ballroom by year's end.

New•The 115-room Hilton Garden Inn-Daytona Beach Airport, with 1,448 square feet and a 334-square-foot conference room, opened in December.


Expanded•The 717-room Tampa Marriott Waterside, with 50,000 square feet of meeting space, has added a marina, allowing guests to arrive at the hotel by boat and take chartered trips and water taxis from its back door.

Renovated•The 521-room Hyatt Regency Tampa has completed the final phase of its $11 million propertywide renovation.

Renovating•The 800-room Saddlebrook Resort, which is renovating all guest rooms, recently debuted the Grand Pavilion, an 18,000-square-foot venue that can accommodate 2,000 people theater-style and 1,500 guests for banquets.

New•The The recently opened $6 million Ybor City Hilton Garden Hotel is the first hotel in the historic Latin Quarter in nearly 100 years.
