MECCs Unite
Medical education and communications companies are forming their own association, announces Karen Overstreet, president of Meniscus Educational Institute, a for-profit firm in West Conshohocken, Pa. “The North American Association of Medical Education and Communications Companies will provide a forum for members to develop educational programs that meet our needs,” says Overstreet, “and give us an opportunity to network and address issues of mutual concern. We've been talking about doing this for a long time.” The association will also give members the ability to take a public stance on issues. Overstreet says they hope to hold their first meeting in the fall.
Overstreet's fellow founding members are all well-known in the CME community: Richard Tischler Jr., PhD, president RF Tischler Jr & Associates, Mount Airy, Md; Mark Schaffer, vice president, CME, Professional Postgraduate Services, Secaucus, N.J.; and Jacqueline Paroschka, vice president and director of education, Discovery International, Deerfield, Ill.
