The Elliott Grand Hyatt Seattle will open its doors this month. The 425-room property, designed with brick, stone, onyx, and exotic woods, offers views of the Cascades and Elliott Bay. The hotel offers high-speed network connections and power outlets at each of the 151 seats in its theater. The hotel has a total of 34,000 square feet of function space.
Copperwynd, Scottsdale, Ariz., a 32-room and eight-villa luxury resort and spa, recently broke ground on a 4,100-square-foot meeting space scheduled to open in November.
The 182-room Lodge at Sonoma — A Renaissance Hotel & Spa in Sonoma, Calif., opened in January. It features a California — style lodge, and cottages, a spa, and a restaurant. The resort has nearly 22,000 square feet of meeting space.
The Renaissance Portsmouth (Va.) Hotel and Conference Center opened early this year, featuring 250 guest accommodations and 24,000 square feet of meeting space, an executive learning center, an amphitheater, and business center.
Virginia Crossings Conference Resort in Richmond, Va., is scheduled to open in August. It will offer a 182-room, self-contained meeting environment for 10 to 1,000 people. The resort, managed by Harrison Conference Centers, a division of Hilton Hotels Corp., will have 23,000 square feet of meeting space, 24 meeting rooms, and privileges at the 18-hole championship Crossing Golf Club, adjacent to the property.
The Waldorf-Astoria, New York, N.Y., will soon complete a $15 million renovation, transforming its 18th floor into a flexible, technologically advanced function space. The Executive Meeting Center will feature 13 contiguous rooms with views of the city and river. The 6,000-square-foot Starlight Roof will again showcase its original art deco design.
San Francisco's former Financial Center Building, opened in 1926, is being transformed into the 362-room Omni San Francisco Hotel, scheduled to open by the end of December. Omni Hotels plans to spend more than $100 million restoring the 17-story building.
Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay (Calif.) has just opened on a promontory overlooking the Pacific, 30 minutes from San Francisco International Airport. The 261-room golf and spa resort offers 17,000 square feet of function space for groups of up to 400 people. Meeting space includes the octagonal Observatory, an intimate boardroom, a 7,100-square-foot divisible ballroom, and three outdoor function areas with ocean views.
Hawk's Cay Resort, Duck Key, Fla., has opened its Overseas Conference Center, a 15,000-square-foot meeting facility that can accommodate 610 people theater-style. The facility complements the resort's 10,000-square-foot Dolphin Conference Center, which was recently renovated and refurbished.
