News Briefs From Industry Associations
Meeting Professionals International has a new address: 4455 LBJ Freeway, Suite 1200, Dallas, TX 75244. Phone: (214) 702-3000; fax: (214) 702-3070.
Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) is selling a Promo Pak, a group of eight publications containing research "to ensure your preshow promotion and exhibiting experience is a success." The price is $60 for members, $90 for nonmembers.
Also available is CEIR's recently released Power of Exhibition II study, a $300,000 research project completed in April by the Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group. The study found that respondents allocate more of their marketing budget for exhibiting than for direct mail, advertising, public relations, and telemarketing-and that it was more effective than these approaches in generating sales leads, introducing new products, and taking orders. For information on this or any other CEIR publication, call CEIR at (301) 907-7626.
The Society of Incentive & Travel Executives (SITE) has added an ampersand to its name to reflect a move to include as members qualified professionals who provide nontravel rewards for motivational programs. Along the same lines, the organization has added a new category to its annual Crystal Awards Program, "Best Use of Multiple Motivational Awards," to recognize those programs that use a combination of travel and other motivational tools. Crystal Award winners will be announced at the SITE International Conference, November 6 to 10 in Vienna.
