Health Care Susan M. Cox, MD, has been appointed assistant dean for professional education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She also is medical director of the high-risk pregnancy unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Convention Centers & Bureaus The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans has announced two appointments. Raquel "Rocky" Dufauchard has been promoted to sales manager. She had served as event coordinator. Assuming her former job is Jeff Mattix, who had served as event coordinator at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner, La.
The Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced two promotions. Ellen Brown has been named national sales manager, responsible for associations in Chicago and the West Coast. She had been sales manager. Nancy Bryan has also been appointed national sales manager. Bryan, who will handle national associations, formerly served as sales manager.
The Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau has promoted Kathy McAdams from director of sales to association vice president of Washington, D.C., region sales. McAdams will handle the association market in the Southeast and Washington.
Sue Hocking has been appointed convention services manager at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia. Hocking has served at the center since its opening in 1987.
The St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission has named Kathie Mullen conference sales executive, responsible for marketing the St. Louis Executive Conference Center at America's Center, a facility designed for meetings of fewer than 100 people. She previously served at the America's Center as event coordinator.
Hotels & Travel Geoff Chesire has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing for Millennium Hotels and Resorts, headquartered in London. Chesire most recently served as senior vice president of U.K. and international sales for Forte Hotels.
Terry Remick has been appointed sales manager for the Ihilani Resort & Spa in Kapolei, Hawaii. She will handle the association and pharmaceutical markets on the East Coast. A 16-year hospitality industry veteran, Remick most recently served as sales manager at Ohana Helicopter Tours.
The Crystal City Marriott in Arlington, Va., has promoted Kim Hutt from executive meeting manager to sales manager.
Kenneth B. Soerensen has been named vice president, sales and marketing, Asia-Pacific, for Swissotel. Soerensen, now based in Bangkok, Thailand, had served as director of sales and marketing for Groupe Montreux Palace s.a. in Switzerland.
The new Moscow Marriott Grand Hotel, the first Marriott-flagged hotel in Russia, has named Marc Hillebrant director of sales. A 20-year hospitality industry veteran, he most recently served as director of sales and marketing for Choice Hotels International in France and Belgium. Hillebrant will be based in Moscow.
The Westin Rio Mar Beach in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, has appointed Dan O'Byrne director of marketing and sales. O'Byrne, who will be based in the new Orlando, Fla., regional sales office, is a former Rio Mar staffer--he had served on the pre- and post-opening sales teams. Most recently, he worked with Ernst & Young Real Estate Group, where he was a consultant to the hospitality industry. Tara Shannon has been named national sales manager. She will be based in New York City and will cover the New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania markets. Shannon joins from ITT Sheraton, where she served as national account director, responsible for corporate and incentive groups.
Craig Jacobs has been appointed director of sales and marketing at the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, Calif. He had served as vice president, western region, for the Plasencia Group, a hotel transactions and consulting company.
The Atlanta Marriott Marquis has named Mark Vaughan director of marketing. Vaughan joins from the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Marina Marriott, where he served as director of marketing.
The Sheraton Biscayne Bay in Miami has named David H. Krech director of group sales. He formerly served as senior sales manager with the Westin Miami.
The Palmer House Hilton in Chicago has appointed Laraine A. McCormack sales manager. She joins from the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, where she was senior sales manager.
Meeting Services Robin Reynolds has been appointed sales manager with Concepts Meeting and Trade Show Management Inc. in San Diego. Reynolds, who will serve pharmaceutical industry clients, formerly was senior sales manager for the Morgan Run Resort and Club, also in San Diego.
Karyl Walls has been elected president of the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association in Atlanta. An 11-year veteran of the health care industry, Walls has served on various HCEA committees; most recently she was program chair of the 1998 annual meeting. Currently, she is health care communications planning analyst with Glaxo Wellcome.
