Geri-Dee Shaffer has been elected president of the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) in Atlanta. She has been a board member since 1993. An 18-year veteran with Aesculap, Inc., Shaffer currently serves as conventions manager.

Joseph S. Green, PhD, has been named director of continuing medical education (CME) at Duke University, Chapel Hill, NC. He was formerly director of CME at the University of California San Francisco.

Audrey Schneider has joined CoMed Communications, a healthcare communications company in Philadelphia, as senior project coordinator, meeting services. She had served as sales marketing assistant for Lyrrus, Inc., a computer software company also located in Philadelphia.

Convention Centers & Bureaus The Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association has named Jim Carra vice president of sales and marketing. He had been director of sales and marketing at Loews L'Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington, DC.

Don Jaeger, director of marketing for the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau, has been named president of the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau. Jaeger, who serves on the board of directors of the Religious Conference Management Association, replaces Ellen Brown, who has retired.

The Pasadena (CA) Convention & Visitors Bureau has promoted Veronica Calvillo to convention services manager. She had been public relations and convention services assistant.

Hotels & Resorts ITT Sheraton Corporation has promoted Alan J. Fuerstman to president, Sheraton Hotels Arizona. Fuerstman will also continue to hold his current position as

managing director of The Phoenician in Scottsdale.

David Taylor has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing for The World Trade Center Boston and the new Seaport Hotel and Conference Center, scheduled to open in the spring. He joins from the Swissotel Management Corporation in New York City, where he served as vice president of sales, North America.

The Waldorf-Astoria and The Waldorf Towers in New York City have named Susan E. Ward director of marketing and sales. She had been director of marketing at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston.

The New York Hilton and Towers has named Brian R. Dunne assistant director of sales. He joins from the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago, where he served as director of group sales.

The Grand Traverse Resort in Acme, MI, has appointed Irving Kass vice presi dent and general manager. He joins from the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami where he served as director of operations.

Kristine Wilcox has joined the ANA Hotel in Washington, DC, as conference services manager. She had been conference services manager with the Wyndham Bristol in Washington, DC.

The Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, SC, has appointed Douglas K. Lester director of sales and marketing. He had been director of marketing at Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach, SC.

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort at Orlando (FL) has named Susan Barnes director of sales and marketing. Barnes joins from the Renaissance Orlando Resort, where she served as director of sales and marketing.

Robert Rippee has joined the Boca Raton (FL) Resort & Club as director of sales. He had been director of sales and marketing for the Sheraton Maui Hotel in Hawaii.

The Ritz-Carlton, Naples (FL), has named Ted Cwikowski director of catering and conference services. He had been director of conference services at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix.

Regent International Hotels in Minneapolis has appointed Paulette Good as vice president of sales and marketing. Most recently, she served as regional vice president of sales and marketing for Gencom American Hospitality, a hotel management company in Houston.

The Hotel Monaco Seattle, which opened in August, has appointed Matt Jensen director of sales. He joins from Hotel Monaco's sister hotel in San Francisco, where he had been director of sales.

Michael Erickson has joined Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts as regional director of sales. Erickson, who will be based in Los Angeles, had been director of marketing/brand partner conversion for Doubletree Hotels Corporation.

The Loews Santa Monica (CA) Beach Hotel has named Bruce D. Hochberger catering and conference manager. Most recently, he had served as director of catering at the Renaissance Los Angeles Hotel.

Lynda Lee has joined the Pan Pacific Hotel in San Francisco as sales manager. Lee, who will be based in Los Angeles, had served as manager of business travel for The Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey, CA.

Mark Major has joined the Radisson Cable Beach Resort in Nassau, the Bahamas, as sales and conventions manager. He had been regional sales manager with the Bristol Hotel Company, in Jackson, MS.

Meeting Services Ken Benjamin has joined ME Productions, a destination management and production company in Pembroke Park, FL, as vice president, sales and marketing. He was formerly the director of sales and marketing for the Radisson Grand Resort,

Bahamas.

The TCI Companies, a meeting and event management company in Washington, DC, has appointed Joan Dickson manager, meetings and conventions. An 18-year veteran of the meetings industry, she has workedwith the American Podiatric Medical Association and the National Pest Control Association.
