Notable Meeting
Medical trade fairs come to Southeast Asia: Thailand has had its share of political turmoil in recent months, but its economic growth just rolls along. In 1996, for example, the Thais had under construction 1,576 health centers, 85 community hospitals, 24 private hospitals, and five regional medical centers, according to Department of Commerce figures. With such impressive statistics, it should come as no surprise that Hannover Fairs (a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe AG, the world's largest trade fair organizer) is coming to Bangkok to produce Meditech Asia '97, along with local partner NCC Management & Development Co., Ltd. NCC says it expects 250 companies to exhibit and more than 10,000 attendees from the Asian region. The show will be held March 4 to 7, 1997 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Planners who have ever had a notion to take a convention to Thailand may find this a unique opportunity to see how the city and the venue perform with a world-scale convention in town. For information, contact Donna Hyland at Hannover Fairs USA, (609) 987-1202.
