PCMA Highlights
PCMA's annual meeting, held January 6 to 9 at Gaylord Opyrland's Convention Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., drew close to 2,300 registrants. That's about 700 fewer than the year before in Miami; a decrease PCMA attributed to 9/11 and the economy. In PCMA news:
Six Continents Hotels and PCMA have joined forces in an educational program to help meeting planners in Latin America. The alliance aims to create a CMP program for Latin American meeting planners.
PCMA announced a partnership with the American Management Association in which members receive discount pricing on AMA seminars.
PCMA has launched two new CMP study group programs.
Shortly after the conference, PCMA fired its president and CEO David DuBois, CMP. He landed at Meeting Professionals International in Dallas, where he serves as executive vice president of the foundation. Senior vice president Jay Donohue will serve as PCMA's interim president and CEO. PCMA plans to have DuBois' replacement hired by late spring.
