Kathryn A. Hecht has left the American Academy of Ophthalmology in San Francisco, where she served as vice president, clinical education. Still based in San Francisco, she is now an independent consultant specializing in continuing medical education.

CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAUS

Jack Moneypenny has been promoted to vice president of sales at the Greater Milwaukee Convention and Visitors Bureau. He will oversee the operations of the bureau's sales and convention services department's staff of 19.

At the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau in Fayetteville, N.C., Terica Taylor has been promoted to senior sales manager, and Kelly C. Ralph has been hired as sales manager. Ralph was most recently meeting coordinator for Professional & Scientific Associates.

Mark W. Thomas has recently been appointed national sales manager at the Greensboro (N.C.) Convention and Visitors Bureau. He will be responsible for sales in Chicago, New York, and other major cities.

HOTELS, RESORTS, AND CONFERENCE CENTERS

Angela Willard has been promoted to director of conference services at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club in Naples, Fla. Willard had been conference planning manager at the hotel since 1999.

At Toronto-based Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, four directors of sales and marketing have been recently appointed. Jack Murray was promoted from director of group sales at The Fairmont Dallas. Jeffrey Doane returns to the Fairmont family at The Fairmont San Francisco, atop Nob Hill. At Montréal's Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, Paule Riverin comes on board from her previous position in the same capacity at The Fairmont Southampton Princess in Bermuda. Finally, Susan Ohlson, coming from The Fairmont Hamilton Princess in Bermuda, takes the reins at Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa.

Karla Yeck has been named sales manager for The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va. She comes from Daufuskie Island Resort in South Carolina, which was recently turned into a private club by The Pinehurst Co.

At Benchmark Hospitality, Jeffrey Kmiec has been appointed director of sales and marketing for the new Stonewall Resort, opening in July near Weston, W.V. Kmiec was previously director of sales and marketing for the Lakeview Golf Resort, Spa, and Scanticon Conference Center in Morgantown, W.V.

Gary Griggs has been named director of sales and marketing at the Edgewater Beach Resort in Panama City Beach, Fla. Previously, Griggs was area director of sales and marketing with Meristar Hotels and Resorts in Dallas.

The Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter has named Michael Krizanic as director of sales. Krizanic has been with Hilton Hotels for the last nine years.

Benjamin Powell has been appointed director of conference services at the Edith Macy Conference Center in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. The conference center is located on 400 acres of land in Westchester County, 45 minutes from midtown Manhattan. Powell was previously conference floor manager at the JP Morgan Chase Conference Center on Wall Street in New York.

Randy Parker has been appointed director of sales and marketing for the 398-room Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Ariz. Parker was most recently director of sales and marketing at Fairmont Hotel in Dallas.

Sean Preiss has been promoted to director of sales at the Lodge at Ventana Canyon in Tucson. He has been with the Lodge for six years, most recently as sales manager.

At Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort on Grand Bahama Island in the Bahamas, Catherine Ryan has been appointed director of sales. Ryan was previously director of sales for Couples Resorts in Miami.

MEETING SERVICES

The Professional Meeting Planners Network in Durham, N.C., has appointed James B. Montague as senior vice president. PMPN is a meeting planning company specializing in health care conferences. Montague most recently was vice president with Branch Banking & Trust, Durham, N.C.

Sylvie Marques has joined HelmsBriscoe International and will open and manage its new Paris office. Marques has spent nine years with Sofitel/Accor Hotels and Resort.

Karen Overstreet has joined Physicians World as vice president, where she will head up the education company's new Philadelphia-area office. Most recently, she served as president of Meniscus Educational Institute in West Conshohocken, Pa. Overstreet is also co-founder of the new North American Association of Medical Education and Communications Companies.
