HOTELS, RESORTS, AND CONFERENCE CENTERS

Alan F. Reichbart has been appointed director of sales at the Pierre New York, a Four Seasons Hotel. He will oversee direct sales activities of the staff and be responsible for managing group business from the Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco markets.

Mark Douglass has been named the new executive director of national accounts for Gaylord Hotels. His responsibilities include sales in the Northeast. Douglass has more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, 12 of them with Hilton Hotels Worldwide. He joins Gaylord from Sheakley Uniservice Inc.

Loews Hotels has promoted Mark E. Ginna to vice president of national sales. He had been national director of travel industry sales.

Kathleen Cal-Manani has been named director of sales at Trump International Sonesta Beach Resort, scheduled to open in January in Sunny Isles, Fla. She is the former director of sales at the Sheraton Bal Harbour in Miami.

Eden Roc Renaissance Resort & Spa in Miami Beach has promoted Saun Lightbourne to director of sales. Light-bourne previously served as the director of national accounts.

The Radisson Plaza Hotel Myrtle Beach Convention Center has named Melissa Salem national sales manager. She had been the director of sales for eight years at Myrtle Beach Hilton/Wyndham Myrtle Beach Resort. The hotel is expected to open in January 2003.

At Keystone (Colo.) Resort and Convention Center, Tina Frank has been appointed director of sales and marketing. She was most recently director of sales and marketing at the Hyatt Regency in Albuquerque, N.M. Frank was named Hyatt's 2001 Director of Sales of the Year.

John R. Hawley has been named director of marketing and sales at The National Conference Center in Lansdowne, Va. He replaces Jodie Innis-Schulz, who was recently promoted within the conference center's management company, ARAMARK Harrison Lodging, to director of business development for the Mid-Atlantic region. Hawley had been director of sales and marketing at the Crystal Gateway and Crystal City Marriott hotels in Arlington, Va.

CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAUS

At L.A. Inc., The Convention and Visitors Bureau, based in Los Angeles, Penny Tilton has been named director, regional sales. She will manage corporate and association sales in Southern California, Sacramento, Arizona, and Texas. Previously, Tilton was senior sales manager for Merv Griffin's Beverly Hilton.

Katia E. Ono, CMP, has been appointed convention sales manager at the Tacoma (Wash.) Regional Convention & Visitor Bureau. She will be responsible for health and medical bookings. She comes to the CVB from the Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center, where she handled group events and customer service.

MEETING SERVICES

Karen Ritz has joined Concepts Worldwide, a full-service meeting management company that specializes in pharmaceutical/medical meetings, as director of sales. Ritz was formerly national sales manager at the San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Meeting Professionals International has appointed Patricia Dameron vice president of member growth and care. The position was created to oversee member satisfaction for the association's nearly 20,000 members and stakeholders. Dameron had been chief operating officer for the American Association of University Women in Washington, D.C.

Heidi Edinger, CMP, will join Meetings & Events USA, a full-service meeting and event planning company based in Chicago, as vice president of sales and marketing. She currently serves as president for the Chicago Chapter of Meeting Professionals International.

At PRA Destination Management, Terrie Thurston has been named president, and Lenny Zilz vice president of business development for PRA Santa Barbara (Calif.). PRA Destination Management Inc. is a franchisor of destination management companies throughout North America.

Robert F. Orsetti has been appointed assistant vice president, Center for Continuing and Outreach Education, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. His most recent position was vice president, healthcare education development, Johnson Education Group, Colorado and New Jersey. Orsetti, who has served in the CME profession since 1979, comments that his new position “completes the cycle for me, that is, work experience at pharma companies, education companies, and now a university/medical school.”
