Kathleen Johnson, EdM, has joined the American College of Surgeons in Chicago as its first manager of national and regional skills centers, experiential learning program. She had been manager, accreditation services, for the Accreditation Council for CME, also in Chicago.
Jacqueline Parochka, EdD, FACME, has launched Excellence in Continuing Education Ltd., a CME consulting firm based in Chicago. A 20-year CME veteran, Parochka most recently served as vice president, director of education, for Discovery International in Chicago. Under her direction, Discovery International achieved two consecutive six-year accreditation with commendation awards from the Accreditation Council for CME. Her new firm will help organizations through their initial accreditation process, and also assist already-accredited providers in achieving exemplary commendation from the ACCME. CME veterans Dennis K. Wentz, MD, and Lewis A. Miller, MS, have formed a new consulting organization focusing on global CME. WentzMiller & Associates, based in Darien, Conn. and Beaver Creek, Colo., brings together international CME leaders to foster understanding of the cultural and clinical differences among physicians and healthcare delivery systems in different countries, and encourage collaboration among medical societies, governments, CME providers, and industry supporters around the world. Wentz most recently served as director, division of CPPD, American Medical Association. Miller is the co-founder of the Alliance for CME and the Global Alliance for Medical Education, and has also founded CME and medical publishing companies.
