THIS COMING FALL, Sandia Resort & Casino will open a greatly expanded facility 10 minutes north of Albuquerque, N.M.'s, international airport. A new hotel will have 228 guest rooms and 35,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 28,000-square-foot grand ballroom (divisible into four), and six breakout rooms with 5,700 square feet of additional space. The casino will feature more than 1,750 slots, blackjack, mini-baccarat, the largest poker room in the state, and a high-limit salon. Also on site: an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Scott Miller, and a 12,000-square-foot spa. Sandia is operated by the Sandia Pueblo American Indians. www.sandiacasino.com

At Lake Placid, N.Y., in the Adirondacks, The Whiteface Lodge debuted in March. It features 85 one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites, each with its own balcony. At the lodge's core is a three-story Great Room, which has six granite fireplaces. The lodge can accommodate groups of from 25 to 250 within its 10,000 square feet of meeting space. There is a 7,000-square-foot spa, a fitness center, and all the recreational options of the Lake Placid area. www.thewhitefacelodge.com

While the new $202.5 million Virginia Beach (Va.) Convention Center is celebrating its first-phase opening this month, featuring more than 300,000 square feet of space, the 20-story, 291-room Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel, just down the road, opened earlier this year. The hotel is the centerpiece of an upscale entertainment and hospitality complex that will feature an oceanfront park, shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The hotel has 12,000 square feet of meeting space and, to top it all off, a rooftop infinity pool with ocean views. www.hiltonvirginiabeachoceanfront.com

Opened in February in Boulder, Colo., the St. Julien Hotel & Spa has 200 rooms and suites and a 10,000-square-foot spa and fitness center. The spa offers 12 treatment rooms; sauna and steam rooms; and a two-lane lap pool with whirlpool and outdoor terrace. It is 46 miles from Denver International Airport. www.stjulien.com

In other Colorado news, the Oklahoma Publishing Co., owners of the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, have reached an agreement to purchase the historic Hotel Jerome in Aspen. www.hoteljerome.com

In March 2006, Dolce International plans to open the Zermatt Resort & Spa in Midway, Utah, in the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains, 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport. Already IACC-accredited, the facility will include the Matterhorn Conference Center, with 64,000 square feet of flexible meeting space; the 226-room Hotel der Baer; and Chateau Hotel Villas, with 126 condominiums that will also be available for meeting attendees. The 17,000-square foot Mountain Rose Spa is on site. A special feature: nine geothermal hot springs, which can be used in winter for scuba diving. http://zermatt.dolce.com

The St. Regis Hotel and Residences San Francisco is on schedule to open September 1. It will add 260 guest rooms to the city, and also includes 102 private residences. The 40-story tower in the Yerba Buena Gardens district will house a five-star restaurant, a 13,700-square-foot spa, and 22,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, as well as the Museum of the African Diaspora. All of the hotel will be Wi-Fi accessible. www.StRegis.com

At the tip of Baja California, The Nikki Beach Cabo San Lucas in Mexico celebrated its grand opening in March. The beach club is partnering with the 150-room Meliá San Lucas resort. www.nikkibeach.com
