PCMA’s Ramsborg Appointed Professor at Kendall College
Glen C. Ramsborg, PhD, CMP, senior director, education, Professional Convention Management Association, and longtime medical meeting planner, is leaving PCMA at the end of the month to take a position as professor, Les Roches School of Hospitality Management, Kendall College, Chicago.
Ramsborg, who became a member of PCMA during his 17-year stint as director of programs and meeting services at the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, is an expert in adult education and a leader in the Certified Meeting Professional program, the meeting industry’s most popular certification, offered by the Convention Industry Council. In fact, Ramsborg served as the executive editor of the fifth edition of PCMA’s Professional Meeting Management, recognized as the industry’s premier textbook, and he developed the first online program for industry professionals preparing for the CMP designation. PCMA named Ramsborg “Educator of the Year” in 2003. He currently serves on the CMP Board of Directors and the APEX (Accepted Practices Exchange, an initiative of CIC) Standards Review Council.
“I am energized by the challenge and rewards to be back in a school setting and facilitating learning in a meeting/event management curriculum. I thought I would be retiring—and wasn’t sure what that next chapter in my life would look like; now I know,” said Ramsborg in a note to his colleagues. “Rest assured, I will continue to remain active in PCMA.”
“We are certain that Glen will be a tremendous boost to our growing program in terms of enhancing curriculum development and classroom teaching,” said Jeffrey Catrett, dean of Les Roches School of Hospitality Management. Ramsborg joins another meetings industry veteran, Sue Tinnish, formerly director of APEX, who became part of the Les Roches faculty in January.
