AAPM Goes Green in Philadelphia
Highlights
When the American Association of Physicists in Medicine met this summer, attendees gave back to host city Philadelphia.
AAPM attendees packed up supplies for Philabundance at the annual meeting.
The American Association of Physicists in Medicine’s 52nd Annual Meeting at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in July was mostly about technological advances in medical imaging and radiation therapy, but its organizers also ensured the program included some human touches.
In addition to environmental efforts that included not producing any promotional postcards and brochures, AAPM offered its 4,000 attendees the opportunity to sort and pack food for the city’s disadvantaged at Philabundance, the region’s largest hunger-relief organization. Attendees also took part in a blood drive to benefit the American Red Cross.
