MM Columnists Win Alliance Awards

Karen Overstreet, EdD, RPh, FACME, CCMEP, executive director, Lippincott CME Institute, Wolters Kluwer Health Medical Research, and co-author of Medical Meetings “Ethical Hypothetical” column, was honored with the Alliance for CME’s 2011 Leadership Award at its annual conference in San Francisco on January 27. The award recognizes CME leaders for their involvement in organizational and educational initiatives that have an impact on the field of CME, actions that have had a positive effect on the CME profession, and serving as a role model both in the field of CME and within the Alliance. Also winning the Leadership Award was the author of Medical Meetings’ March/April 2010 cover story, Bruce Bellande, PHD, FACME, CCMEP, president, CME Enterprises.

Overstreet and the Lippincott CME Institute also received two awards during a meeting of the National Association of Medical Education Companies (NAMEC), held in conjunction with the Alliance for CME conference, for the competitive categories of Best Practice in Collaboration Among CME Stakeholders and Best Practice in Professional Development.

Another MM columnist, Brian McGowan, PhD, who writes “Social Media Connections,” won the Alliance for CME’s President’s Award for his work on documenting the 2010 Alliance service project on film and sharing it via YouTube.
