APEX Gets New Web Site, Commissioners

The Convention Industry Council’s Accepted Practices Exchange program, also known as APEX, recently received a Web makeover and added two new commissioners to its roster. On the human side of the APEX update are Teri Tonioli, CMP, a 20-plus-year meetings industry veteran who is currently senior vice president, strategic account management, with Experient Inc., Twinsburg, Ohio; and Phil Cavanagh, who heads up the events team at office supply giant Staples. Tonioli and Cavanagh, both of whom will represent the planner segment of the industry in their APEX work, have long been involved in meetings industry organizations, including the Professional Convention Management Association, Meeting Professionals International, and the International Association of Exhibitions and Events.

The Web site revamp, apexsolution.org, was designed for user-friendliness, according to a press release. An extension of the CIC Web site at conventionindustry.org/apex, the new site includes an events calendar, testimonials, CIC facts, and a sign-up form for the APEX e-news updates. It also contains the APEX templates and panel reports, and allows planners to order APEX Powershop through the technology tab on the site. (Click here for a free webinar on Powershop, or here for a listing of several other free APEX webinars.) Coming soon, according to the release, are a demo video and user manual, a community blog, academic resources, and polls.
