The Green Meeting Industry Council has launched an online directory to help planners search for suppliers that are focused on environmentally responsible business practices.

The Green Meetings Directory, launched in partnership with PlannerWire, an information portal for meeting and event planners, lists products and services, as well as detailed contact information, for each GMIC supplier listed.

The directory is limited to GMIC supplier members, but anyone can use the tool, which is searchable by category, company name, and location. Planners can also submit feedback about vendors via a comment field and rating system.

GMIC has 470 members in 17 countries, with a 60 percent planner-to-supplier ratio. Only about 10 percent of GMIC’s supplier base is now listed in the directory, says Kennedy-Hill, but she expects that number to grow significantly over the next few months as more suppliers become aware of the offering. The basic listing is complimentary, and upgrades, such as video listings, are available for a fee.
