Green Meeting Confab
Green meeting experts, meeting planners, and hoteliers looking to learn more about the biggest trend in the industry will gather in Vancouver, B.C., February 19 to 21 for the 2008 Greening the Hospitality Industry Conference.
A sampling of session topics include sustainable catering, green hotel certification, green meetings standards, sustainable transportation, carbon offsets, and the ethics of sustainability and green meetings.
The event, organized by the Portland, Ore.–based Green Meeting Industry Council, will also reach “Beyond the Four Walls,” as its conference theme suggests, to include a session on community and global citizenship (including a visit to the Vancouver Food Bank).
Organizers are working to keep the meeting as green as possible by providing a program to offset emissions produced by the event, contracting with suppliers that use sustainable practices, printing handouts on recycled paper, reducing paper use to a minimum throughout the conference, donating leftover food to a food bank, and other initiatives.
