AACC And ASCLS Hold Audioconference On New Medical Privacy Standards

On Tuesday, April 30, 2002; 2:00 pm-3:15 pm EST, The American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) and The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) will provide a timely and useful audioconference on how to implement the new medical privacy standards.

In less than one year, the new privacy standards published by the Department of Health and Human Services will take effect. If you have yet to address this issue, are currently working on your plan, or want to make certain your plan meets regulations, this may prove a useful program.

AACC’s top privacy expert, Peter Kazon, JD, Partner, Mintz Levin, Washington, DC will explain:

* Who has access to patient data and when consent is required
* How to meet the "minimum necessary" requirements
* How the new rules affect research and quality assessment activities
* How to document adequate staff training
* What are the penalties for noncompliance

Laboratory directors, lab managers, IVD manufacturers, R&D manufacturers, federal and state regulators, clinical laboratory consultants, members of the press and everyone who wants to stay knowledgeable on these important standards should attend.

The early registration fee (received by April 16, 2002) is $179. After April 16th, the registration fee is $229. For further details regarding the registration or the program, please contact customer service at 800-892-1400, 202-857-0717 or click here to visit AACC's website.

AACC is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit, professional association with a worldwide membership of more than 10,000 clinical laboratorians, clinical and molecular pathologists, medical technologists, industry representatives and others in related fields. Through educational programs and publications, AACC works to improve and advance laboratory services to enhance public health and patient care.
