Bowers Lands Top Job at CCTB
Christopher Bowers recently was named chief executive officer of the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau. Bowers, who’s lived in Chicago his entire life, is a former United Airlines senior executive and served as chairman of the Travel Industry Association of America. He also has been a member of the Board of Directors for online travel engine Orbitz, and is a former member of the CCTB and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.
The CCTB had conducted a four-month national search to find a replacement for current CEO Jim Reilly, who announced last October that he would not seek an extension to his contract when it expires March 31, 2004.
