CDC To Offer Webcast On Smallpox Dec. 13
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) will present a two-hour webcast entitled “Smallpox: What Every Clinician Should Know” beginning at noon on Thursday, December 13. Information will be presented on on recognition and diagnosis of smallpox, management and reporting of a suspected case, and the characteristics and use of smallpox (vaccinia) vaccine.
The CDC’s training and continuing education on line is hosted by the Public Health Training Network (PHTN); Category 1 CME credit is available, as are CEU credits for other health professionals. The course is free, but registration is required. CME providers with satellite downlink facilities will also be able to show the course via video. To learn more, visit the site .
PHTN is the distance-learning arm of the CDC. It operates through the contributions of various partners including Association of Schools of Public Health, Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine, state and local health departments, and others. These partnerships support PHTN activities including: assessing the training needs of the public health workforce, training development and delivery, and evaluating individual training products and PHTN as a whole.
