Chicago Dermatologists Take Skin Cancer Prevention To The Beach
Here's an example of a medical society making the most of a patient outreach effort. The Chicago Dermatological Society will sponsor a free skin cancer screening at North Avenue Beach in Chicago on Saturday, July 13, 2002 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. (Raindate: July 14, 2002)
The Chicago Dermatological Society is committed to raising public awareness of this disease by providing free skin cancer screening, sunscreen samples and education at the place where it is most needed--the beach.
Though many factors may contribute to the development of Skin Cancer, the connection between Skin Cancer and sun exposure is well-established and continues to be investigated.
Participants will be screened by board-certified dermatologists and will receive a personalized report with recommendations regarding the need for follow-up if a suspicious skin lesion is detected. All visitors will receive educational materials and free sunscreen samples.
