Drug Information Association Introduces New Specialty Area
he 38th Annual Meeting of the Drug Information Association opened yesterday in Chicago, and will run through June 20 at the Lakeside Center at McCormick Place. Attendance was expected to exceed 6,000. The scope of the Annual Meeting continues to grow, according to DIA president Gary Koch, PhD. A new specialty area – Clinical Trial Management – has been added. A plenary session has been scheduled in each of these areas: Project Management, Regulatory Affairs, Regulatory Affairs/Information Technology, and Regulatory Affairs/Clinical Research & Development. Additionally, the Information Technology area has been divided into the subsections IT/Clinical Data Management and IT/Electronic Document Management to more clearly delineate the focus of the sessions. As in previous years, The DIA’s goal is for 50 percent of the sessions to have an international focus, reflecting the global nature of the DIA membership.
