Duke And PPS Co-Sponsor Leadership Course For CME Professionals
Thomson Professional Postgraduate Services (PPS), a division of Thomson Physicians World (PW), announces it is partnering with Duke University School of Medicine to sponsor a 4-day conference for CME professionals.
CME Leadership in the 21st Century will be held at the R. David Thomas Executive Conference Center in Durham, NC, September 21-25, 2002. Designed to prepare CME leaders for new challenges in educating physicians and health professionals, the conference will combine group discussions, interactive panel debates, case study workshops, and mentorship sessions on such topics as change management, situational leadership, quality improvement, adult learning principles, accreditation standards, new CME media/formats, and the future of CME.
The conference will be led by a strong faculty of nationally recognized experts in CME and healthcare from leading medical schools and CME associations. It will take place in an environment conducive to intensive study, providing an important opportunity for CME professionals to assess their skills and the state of CME as physician education embraces new models of learning.
"The world of CME is changing," declared Program Co-Chair Joseph Green, PhD, associate dean, CME, at Duke University School of Medicine. "For CME to be truly effective in the coming decades, we need to help a new generation of CME leaders assume increasing responsibility to improve and expand the impact of CME on the practice of medicine."
"As CME evolves to keep pace with the tools of modern technology, educators must stay close to CME principles and standards," said Program Co-Chair Marty Cearnal, PPS president and chief executive officer. "Our intent in this conference is to reinforce the notion that despite changes in media and formats, our teaching mission remains constant -- to provide physicians and health professionals with the information they need to solve real clinical problems."
