e-Medicine Agreement Adds "Product Education" To On-Line CME Site

eMedicine.com, the medical education network and publisher of the eMedicine Online Medical Reference Library, has announced a marketing agreement with Physicians Interactive, a division of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, a provider of point-of-care decision support tools for physicians. Physicians Interactive (PI) will provide eMedicine users with access to online pharmaceutical and "product education" programs, also known as e-Detailing. Under this agreement, physicians visiting eMedicine's site to view online reference material or take online CME courses will also be provided with the option of completing a PI program.

eMedicine claims to be the largest repository of Continuing Medical Education (CME) in the world with over 60,000 hours of CME credit available.

Scott Plantz, MD, Chief Executive Officer of eMedicine, said, "We're extremely pleased to offer our users a quick and easy way to get information on important new drugs and to have the ability to access this information anytime and anywhere. This will be a huge benefit for busy practitioners."

PI provides interactive healthcare product education for physicians and healthcare professionals. PI recruits specific physicians for its clients' customized, ten-minute online product education sessions. "The relationship with eMedicine is designed to help us expand our physician recruiting capabilities," commented Aaron Gerber, MD, General Manager of Physicians Interactive. "The opportunity to access the sizable physician user base of eMedicine is a great opportunity for PI and will significantly enhance our ability to increase the return on investment we are able to deliver to our [pharmaceutical industry] clients."

eMedicine developed the Group Publishing System, a patented web-based authoring, content management and delivery system to create eMedicine. The company is privately held with headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida.
