Nursing School To Provide On-Line Education For "Temps" Service
Medical Staffing Network, Inc. (MSN), has entered into a ``unique relationship'' with Florida Atlantic University's College of Nursing.
As part of this relationship, the FAU College of Nursing will develop continuing education courses that MSN will offer online to nurses through MSN's Web site . Nurses can obtain the CEUs (continuing education units) that many states require for license renewals. These courses also update nurses on changing technology and clinical practices.
Among the courses to be offered online beginning in May
are:
-- Domestic Violence
-- HIV/AIDS
-- Women's Health Issues
-- Herbal Remedies
``Medical Staffing Network is proud to partner with FAU's College of Nursing on this worthwhile project that benefits the nursing profession,'' said Robert J. Adamson, President and Chief Executive Officer of MSN. ``We believe this is the first time that a temporary healthcare staffing company specializing in nurses and medical clinicians has entered into a working relationship like this with a widely respected and fully accredited educational institution.''
``Not only will nurses be able to take these online courses at their convenience, those working with MSN can do so for free. This is another way that MSN values, nurtures and supports the nursing profession,'' Mr. Adamson continued.
``We believe that this new online Center for Nursing Career Advancement, co-sponsored by MSN and FAU's College of Nursing, is a wonderful opportunity for our two organizations to partner,'' said Dr. Anne Boykin, PhD, the Dean of Florida Atlantic University's College of Nursing. ``Most important is the fact that MSN shares our commitment to valuing practicing nurses as individuals, as colleagues and as healthcare professionals.''
Florida Atlantic University, a member of the State University System of Florida, was established in 1961 and opened its doors to students in 1964. Its total enrollment is more than 25,000 and more than 70,000 men and women are FAU alumni. FAU is organized into nine colleges, of which the College of Nursing is one.
Medical Staffing Network provides temporary staff to healthcare facilities on a per diem basis through its 100 offices in 31 states. MSN's headquarters is located in Boca Raton, FL.
